Discover the rich history and vibrant culture of Sicily’s eastern coastline. From ancient temples in Syracuse to the picturesque streets of Marzamemi, this tour combines archaeology, architecture, and seaside beauty.
Embark on an unforgettable journey to Sicily’s eastern coast, exploring two of the island’s most captivating locations – Syracuse and Marzamemi.
Syracuse features an archaeological zone with the world-famous Teatro Greco, still in use today.
The island of Ortygia is the heart of ancient Syracuse. A short walk through the pedestrian zone leads to the Duomo, once a 5th-century BC temple to Athena. Its interior is mainly Norman, while the façade is early 18th-century Sicilian Baroque. Nearby, the Fonte Aretusa overlooks the bay, and Caravaggio’s Burial of Santa Lucia is found in a small church nearby.
In the other direction, medieval streets lead to Piazza Archimede with the early 20th-century Art Nouveau Fontana di Artemide.
Marzamemi is a picturesque fishing village with rows of colorful one-story houses, the historic Tonnara, Palazzo Villadorata, and Chiesa di San Francesco di Paola. Piazza Regina Margherita is the village’s central hub, surrounded by blue doors, red geraniums, and wooden boats facing the Mediterranean.
At Campisi, sample Sicilian delicacies like sun-dried tomatoes, olive pâté, and traditional bottarga.
This summer-exclusive tour offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and coastal charm—ideal for travelers seeking authentic experiences on Sicily’s eastern shore.
