Explore the historic charm of Vittoriosa, Cospicua, and Senglea on a tour aboard one of Malta’s first vintage buses from 1921.
Step back through the mists of time as you journey to the fortress of Cottonera—home to Malta’s legendary Three Cities: Vittoriosa, Cospicua, and Senglea. These fortified towns were built by the Knights of Malta and played crucial roles during Malta’s Great Sieges of 1565 and 1942.
The tour begins with a scenic and informative drive through Cospicua, also known by its older name Bormla. Inhabited since the Neolithic era, this city’s massive defensive walls were initiated by the Knights in 1638 and took over 70 years to complete.
You’ll then visit Vittoriosa (Birgu), the oldest of the Three Cities, known for its deep connections to Malta’s maritime and military history. Once a strategic harbor stronghold, it features landmarks like the Palace of the General of the Galleys and the former treasury of the Order of St. John.
The final stop is Senglea, formerly known as L’Isola di San Giuliano. Originally used as a hunting area, this small peninsula offers spectacular harbor views and rich historical character.
Your experience includes live English commentary from the driver, enhancing the journey with stories from Malta’s noble past. The tour operates aboard one of the original wooden-bodied buses built in 1921 by the Cottonera Motor Bus Company.
Departure is from Sliema Ferries (opposite Marks & Spencer), with transport provided from various locations across Malta.
